It can be hard to live in the world today with out hearing mysterious "BUZZ" words. One of the more popular ones out now is "Bluetooth". Most people have heard this word but most may not know what Bluetooth can really do to make THEIR life easier and safer. Ocala Car Audio would like to clear this up for you and make it make sense.

What is Bluetooth?

Lets start by answering the basic question many people ask, What is Bluetooth? In short Bluetooth is a short range wireless technology that is designed to replace cables, thus simplifying the use of many portable devices, yet still maintaining a high level of security. This is accomplished by having an password protected signal that you can be sent between paired devices. In many cases you can pair up to 7 phones to one device and pair one phone with up to 7 devices. Just please ensure that you do not leave your devices password set to the factory default. This is is up to you to protect your information. For most people the question may change from "what is Bluetooth" to "Why do I need Bluetooth"?

Why do I need Bluetooth?

Most people in today's modern world have at least 1 cellular phone, some people may carry more when used for work. Today more and more people spend more and more time driving in their cars. According to the Human Factors quarterly journal, “Cell phone distraction causes 2,600 deaths and 330,000 injuries in the United States every year” (2005). (quote taken from accidentinfo.com). In order to make Cell phone safer to use, many states have instituted laws requiring hands free use of cell phone. Florida has not yet begun but is looking into it. As a result if you have a cellphone that is less than 5 years old, the chances are good that you have a cell phone that has Bluetooth built in and have the option to use hands free if you have an appropriate device. In most some cases the Bluetooth device in your car will only allow you to answer calls using hands free by using a microphone and a small speaker. In more advanced devices you can not only see who is calling but also dial either by direct number entry or by accessing your phone book on the cell phone, and even make calls by voice dialing. This allows you or your teenager to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

How can I use Bluetooth in my car?
