Cutting-Edge JL Audio M6 Marine Speakers Now Available

JL Audio M6 SpeakersIf you are looking for an amazing marine audio speaker for your boat or side-by-side, drop into Ocala Car Audio and ask us to demonstrate the new JL Audio M6 speakers. Designed and tested by the world leader in marine audio amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers, JL Audio’s new M6 speakers continue the company’s reputation for legendary reliability, great cosmetics and class-leading performance. Let’s take a look at the features that make the M6 our marine speaker series of choice for discerning clients.

Features of the JL Audio M6 Speakers

Unlike some companies that offer marine speakers that are simply car audio speakers with a white paint job, JL Audio designs and builds the M6 speakers at their head office in Miramar using materials designed specifically to handle the rigors of long-term exposure to the elements. The basket, grilles, woofer cones, speaker surrounds and tweeter diaphragms won’t crack, yellow, chalk or fade, even after years out in the sun and prolonged salt water exposure.

New to the M6 series is an optional (at time of purchase) integrated multicolor lighting system that uses an array of LEDs on the basket to light up the underside of the woofer cone. JL calls this Transreflective LED Lighting. The light color can be controlled using the optional MLC-RW Marine Lighting Controller and an app on your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet.

Speaker Size and Design Options

JL Audio M6 SpeakersIn keeping with JL Audio’s history of providing several styling options for marine speakers, the M6 speakers are available in the classic grille design with a gloss white trim ring, with a titanium sport grille and gunmetal trim or with a gloss white sport grille and gloss white trim ring. All three models are available with or without LED lighting.

JL Audio offers the M6 series exclusively in a coaxial design with size options that include 6.5 inches, 7.7 inches or the awesome 8.8-inch solutions. Of course, overall speaker efficiency, low-frequency output capability and power handling increase as you move up in size.

Expert Installation Services

As important as high-quality speakers are to a marine audio system, the way those speakers are installed and how the system is tuned play a huge role in determining the quality and reliability of the system. The technicians at Ocala Car Audio are trained to deliver reference-level installations that optimize every aspect of the listening experience.

Experience M6 at Ocala Car Audio

If you are looking for amazing audio performance from your boat, or need a water-resistant speaker for off-road or outdoor applications, visit Ocala Car Audio and ask about JL Audio’s M6 series. You can reach us by phone or e-mail using our contact page for additional information.

Ocala Car Audio Offers Upgraded Marine Audio Systems

Upgraded Marine AudioAn upgraded marine audio system from Ocala Car Audio in Marion County is the best way to make your time on the water more enjoyable this summer. Our sales and installations teams have decades of experience in upgrading sound systems on everything from small fishing boats to cabin cruisers to all-out yachts. Let’s have a look at some of the options available to make your marine audio system sound better this season.

Premium Marine Speaker Solutions

Upgraded Marine AudioNo single component in an audio system is more important than your speakers. You could have the best source unit, amazing amplifiers and a cool installation. But, if your speakers aren’t up to the challenge, the performance of the entire system will suffer. We offer marine speakers from JL Audio, Memphis Audio and Kenwood that are specifically designed for outdoor use. They are designed to perform in applications with high-levels of UV exposure. These speakers feature materials that resist chalking, yellowing, fading, and cracking, even after years outdoors.

High-quality marine speakers offer more than longevity; they can handle lots of power to ensure your marine audio system will sound great. Even when you are crashing through the waves or cheering on the skier at the end of the rope at the top of your lungs!

High-Power Marine-Grade Amplifiers

Upgraded Marine AudioMarine amplifiers differ in construction from their car audio brethren in the materials they use inside the chassis. Aluminum extrusions and cover plates, and stainless-steel terminals and hardware ensure that these amplifiers won’t corrode in the high-humidity environment of a boat. The majority of marine amplifiers feature a corrosion-resistant coating on the circuit boards that prevent moisture from corroding the fragile connections.

In terms of power, the marine amplifiers we offer use high-efficiency Class-D designs to maximize the available energy from your batteries when the engine is off. This reduction in electrical load allows you to play your audio system longer and louder than conventional amplifiers.

Upgraded Marine Audio Source Unit Options

If your boat is more than five years old, chances are it didn’t come with a source unit that includes Bluetooth Audio streaming. Adding Bluetooth has been one of the most popular feature requests over the last few years. We offer radios with and without CD mechanisms that include Bluetooth. Most include options for SiriusXM, direct Pandora support and multi-zone volume control. We can add wired and wireless remotes to most of these source units. Many are now compatible with the NMEA 2000 connectivity to Garmin, Lowrance or Simrad multifunction devices.

Expert Marine Stereo Installations

Ocala Car Audio is well-known for our fanaticism when it comes to marine installations. We take the time to ensure every component is mounted securely so they will withstand anything you throw at them. Our wiring practices ensure reliable operation. We use materials that are specifically designed for marine applications. Finally, the way we design upgraded marine audio systems ensures that your music will sound great from anywhere onboard. Most importantly, the system will be easy to use!

Product Spotlight: Kenwood KAC-M3004

Kenwood KAC-M3004When it comes to great amplifiers that fit in small spaces, Ocala Car Audio is fond of the Kenwood KAC-M3004. This four-channel amplifier is rated to produce 50 watts of power per channel when connected to a four-ohm load. It features a compact 6-1/2 by 3-7/8-inch footprint that makes it ideal for motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, marine and automotive applications. Let’s take a close look at the features of this great little amplifier.

Kenwood KAC-M3004 Specifications

As we mentioned, the KAC-M3004 is a 50 watt per channel amp. The amp produces 75 watts per channel when loaded to two ohms and can be configured as a two-channel amp that produces 150 watts per channel into a four-ohm load. The M3004 uses efficient Class D circuitry to maximize the power from the vehicle electrical system and extend playtime with the engine off.

Amplifier Layout and Controls

The KAC-M3004 has a terminal block on the right end-panel for power and ground connections. It features a Molex connector with the four pairs of speaker wires. Two sets of nickel-plated RCA input jacks are located on the opposite end of the amp. To the right of the jacks are input sensitivity controls that allow us to match this amplifier with source units that produce anywhere from 0.2 to 5 volts of output on the preamp. To the left of the jacks are two potentiometers that adjust the built-in high- and low-pass electronic crossovers.

Compact Amplifier Applications

Kenwood KAC-M3004One of our most popular application for the Kenwood KAC-M3004 is in the fairing of a motorcycle. When bridged to a pair of high-quality speakers, the 150 watts of power are a perfect solution to ensure your music is produced with clarity, even at high volume levels. Kenwood has constructed this amp for marine and outdoor applications. This includes a corrosion-resistant coating on the circuit board and protective covers for the controls to help keep dust out.

If you are in the market for a great amplifier that can fit in very small spaces, drop by Ocala Car Audio and ask about the KAC-M3004 from Kenwood. You can also reach us by e-mail using our contact form for more information about our Kenwood amplifiers.

Carolina Skiff Audio

A local firefighter from here in Ocala, Florida, contacted Ocala Car Audio about installing an audio system in his boat. He works hard when on duty, but enjoys getting away to do some fishing when time allows. Being able to enjoy music while out on the water would make his relaxation time just that much better.

We installed two pair of JL Audio MX650-CCX-SG-Wh speakers. JL Audio is acknowledged as the world leader in premium marine speakers and subwoofers. The client was thinking that he would need a subwoofer to make the system sound the way he wanted, but we assured him that he’d be impressed with the speakers.

We installed a Kenwood KAC-M1824BT amplifier with an integrated Bluetooth receiver. The client simply pairs his phone to the receiver and he can control the volume and change tracks from the control panel at the helm. The amp provides 45 watts to each speaker.

The client was thrilled with the performance of the system.

Whether it’s a $1,000 or a $20,000 system, Ocala Car Audio provides our clients with the same customer service and attention to detail that has made us famous. Contact us here to inquire about an entertainment system for your boat.

Ocala Car Audio Builds Great-sounding Marine Audio Systems

Marine Audio SystemsOcala Car Audio creates some of the best marine audio systems in Marion County. Since 2008, we have made designing and installing premium marine entertainment systems a fundamental part of our business. We have partnered with industry-leading brands like JL Audio, Fusion, Kenwood, Memphis Xtreme and Aquatic AV to provide our clients with reliable, high-performance products that not only sound great but offer excellent value.

Marine Industry Experience

Marine Audio SystemsOur founder, Parish Tanner, worked in the engineering department for some of the top boat builders in the country. His hands-on design experience with brands like Regal Marine, Grady White, Key West, Pro-line, Moomba, Chris Craft, Caroline Skiff, Chaparral and more have provided him with a unique understanding of boat manufacturing and client expectations.

During this time, Parish received his American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) E-11 Electrical Certification. This training and subsequent certification ensures that he understands the guidelines and specific requirements related to working on and upgrading the electrical and entertainment systems of boats. This accreditation is crucial to the safe design and installation of marine audio systems.

Marine Wiring Practices

We use several unique products and processes when installing marine entertainment systems. First, we always use marine-spec wiring. Unlike conventional car audio wiring and cables, our marine wiring is designed to withstand exposure to high-humidity and saltwater conditions to prevent corrosion and damage to equipment. Where we make electrical connections and how we route wiring protects it from damage by moving parts and interference with factory-installed electronic components.

Our battery system upgrades ensure that life support systems like bilge pumps, navigation lighting and ship-to-shore radios will always remain functional. You will always have enough power to start the engine to get home safely, even after a day spent partying at the local sand bar. Isolating the entertainment system from the system batteries is not an option – it is the only way to do it right. The reliability of your boat and your safety is our number-one priority.

Ocala Car Audio Marine Installations

Marine Audio SystemsWe use a product called Starboard to create speaker adapters, subwoofer enclosures and amplifier mounting racks. Starboard is a high-grade polymer that we can mill in the same way we would use wood, but unlike wood, it will not rot or degrade when exposed to water, ensuring that whatever we create for you will last for decades.

We use stainless steel fasteners in all of our installations. Carbon steel fasteners will corrode quickly when exposed to saltwater. Nobody wants to see a line of brown rust running to or from that new speaker installation.

System Design

Whether we are working on a Cigarette, Fountain or Donzi off-shore race boat, or a Mastercraft, Moomba or Malibu wakeboard boat, every system we design offers exceptional performance, reliability and ease of use. Our choice of speaker and subwoofer mounting locations optimizes sound delivery for everyone on board. Bluetooth streaming, chart plotter integration and satellite radio options are no problem for us.

Marine Audio Systems and More

From a simple radio upgrade or speaker replacement to lighting and accessory installations, Ocala Car Audio can handle everything your boat needs. Drop by our store at 804 NW 27th Avenue and talk to a member of our team, or e-mail us using our online contact FORM for more information.

Ocala Referral Gets Awesome Fountain 38TE Audio Upgrades

Fountain 38TE AudioThe owner of this 2009 Fountain 38 Tournament Edition boat contacted Ocala Car Audio about having an audio system installed. We had installed an audio system in a boat for a friend of his and got the referral based on our workmanship. This client wanted the best for his boat, so we designed an audio system using JL Audio marine amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers. The client loved our plan and gave the OK to start the project to upgrade his Fountain 38TE audio system.

Stage One: Speaker Upgrades

Fountain 38TE Audio
Three speakers and one subwoofer were squeezed onto this panel for a LOT of audio output!
Fountain 38TE Audio
The storage locker speakers required a bit of live-well modification, but it was worth it!
Fountain 38TE Audio
The overhead speakers help ensure everyone has great sound.
Fountain 38TE Audio
We choose JL Audio’s top of the line marine speakers for this boat.

The client wanted something that would get loud. Not just a little loud – very loud! We started by choosing a location for a pair of JL Audio M12IB6-SG-WH 12-inch subwoofers. Each of these monster subs was flanked by three M880-CCX-SG-WLD-B 8.8-inch coaxial speakers. Think about the sheer cone area of that combination! These speakers provide sound for the forward seating area.

We mounted another pair of M880-CCX-SG-WLD-B coaxial speakers in the aft storage locker. We had to reshape the live well to allow the speakers to fit. A slight modification to the well was a better option than making spacers for the speakers.

We mounted the fifth pair of speakers in the overhead radio box. The speakers point straight down at the helm. We used sound deadening to damp any vibrations from the radio box itself.

The last pair of speakers is on the stern of the boat to provide sound to swimmers or friends while the boat is anchored at the sandbar.

Stage Two: Amplification

Fountain 38TE Audio
JL Audio provided the power that rocks this boat.
Fountain 38TE Audio
Dual zone control is just one of the benefits of the Fusion radio.

Since we had a total of 12 speakers and a pair of subwoofers, we needed that many amplifier channels as well. We created an amp rack for three JL Audio MHD600/4 and two MHD750/1 amplifiers. The amp rack is mounted in the locker under the helm and is constructed of starboard. Each speaker in the system has its very own amp channel. We configured the Fusion marine radio that was already on the boat to provide two volume zones. The speakers in the radio box can be adjusted separately from the rest.

It took us two weeks to complete the project. We used T-Spec V10 power and ground wire with Stinger distribution blocks. We had to enlarge many of the factory speaker openings and cut new holes to accommodate the massive 8.8-inch speakers. We treated every speaker to a run of new speaker wire for maximum efficiency and reliability.

Fountain 38TE Audio System Delivery

When the client returned to Ocala Car Audio to hear his system for the first time, he was both stunned and thrilled with the way it sounds.

If your boat needs an audio system upgrade, drop by the store or contact us HERE to get started.
