RVM-740 Features and Design

The Voxx RVM-740 is a replacement rearview camera that includes a massive LCD screen behind the mirror. During normal operation, the mirror provides a clear image of what is behind your vehicle. Ford F-150 Power Windows, Locks and Bed Cover for Ocala Couple

A local couple brought their recently purchased base-model Ford F-150 pickup to Ocala Car Audio in Ocala, Florida for a few upgrades. The trunk didn’t have power window and power locks. The couple also wanted to add a tonneau cover and a paint protection solution. We went over several options to develop a solution for them. Once we agreed on a plan, we scheduled an appointment to get started.

We used a Spal 33000030 Deluxe Power Window Kit to replace the manual window cranks with electric motors. To accent the kit, we chose the Spal 33040128 Illuminated switch kit with frame. This kit provides illuminated driver and passenger switches on the driver’s side and a single switch on the passenger side.

For power locks, we used Spal 37000007 solenoids in each door and an Avital 3100L to control them.

The clients chose an Extang 83480 Solid Fold 2.0 cover to protect the 6.5′ truck bed. We also installed 3M Scotchgard Pro paint protection film to the leading edge of the hood and fenders. Paint Protection Film is much more subtle than a convnetional bug deflector.

Carolina Skiff Audio System for Ocala Firefighter

A local firefighter from here in Ocala, Florida, contacted Ocala Car Audio about installing an audio system in his boat. He works hard when on duty, but enjoys getting away to do some fishing when time allows. Being able to enjoy music while out on the water would make his relaxation time just that much better.

We installed two pair of JL Audio MX650-CCX-SG-Wh speakers. JL Audio is acknowledged as the world leader in premium marine speakers and subwoofers. The client was thinking that he would need a subwoofer to make the system sound the way he wanted, but we assured him that he’d be impressed with the speakers.

We installed a Kenwood KAC-M1824BT amplifier with an integrated Bluetooth receiver. The client simply pairs his phone to the receiver and he can control the volume and change tracks from the control panel at the helm. The amp provides 45 watts to each speaker.

The client was thrilled with the performance of the system.

Marine Industry Experience

Our founder, Parish Tanner, worked in the engineering department for some of the top boat builders in the country. Marine Wiring Practices

Where we make electrical connections and how we route wiring protects it from damage by moving parts and interference with factory-installed electronic components.

We use a product called Starboard to create speaker adapters, subwoofer enclosures and amplifier mounting racks. Starboard is a high-grade polymer that we can mill in the same way we would use wood, but unlike wood, it will not rot or degrade when exposed to water, ensuring that whatever we create for you will last for decades.

We use stainless steel fasteners in all of our installations. Carbon steel fasteners will corrode quickly when exposed to saltwater. Nobody wants to see a line of brown rust running to or from that new speaker installation.

Lady Lake Client gets Ford F-450 Stereo and Lighting Upgrades

A client from Lady Lake contacted Ocala Car Audio in search of upgrades for his 2017 Ford F-450. He wanted to improve the stereo system and lighting. After meeting with the client and discussing how he liked to listen to his music, and what light upgrades he wanted, we worked together to devise an upgrade plan that would meet his performance goals.

Ford F-450 Stereo System Upgrade

Ford sound systems can be difficult to upgrade reliably. We started the project with a PAC AmpPro AP4-FD21 interface that replaced the factory amplifier and its associated headaches. We installed the remote bass level control from the PAC interface in the overhead console. A JL Audio HD600/5 five-channel amplifier powers the system.

After removing the factory door speakers, we made adapter plates out of ABS plastic to hold a set of JL Audio C5-650X component woofers. We treated the door skins with a layer of Stinger RoadKill Expert sound deadening before mounting the adapters with corrosion-resistant factory hardware.

Custom F-450 Subwoofer Enclosure

As this is a work truck, it has a rubber floor instead of carpet. We built a subwoofer enclosure for a JL Audio 10TW3-D8 that fits under the rear seat. To complement the durability of the enclosure, we sprayed it in bedliner rather than wrapping it in carpet.

Work Truck Lighting Upgrades

Rear lights were mounted under the bumper to provide lighting at night.

The curved lightbar fit perfectly into the upgraded bumper.

Strobe lights were mounted underneath the truck for safety.

We mounted a set of Rigid Industries 906512 6-inch SR series lights underneath the heavy-duty tow bar bracket. The lights are wired to come on with the factory reverse lights from a switch in the factory overhead accessory panel. A set of Rigid rock lights light up the wheel wells and add safety while working around the truck at night.

We added a set of Whelen Engineering T-Series amber and white LED strobes to the truck. We mounted one pair just above the upgraded rear bumper. We added another set on the sides of the truck’s frame to increase visibility from the sides.

The icing on the cake is a Rigid Industries RDS-Series 40” curved light bar. The LED light bar is mounted inside an opening in the custom-painted Rogue Racing front bumper. We added a Warn Zeon 12-S Platinum winch to provide a little extra persuasion when required.

Jeep Wrangler Power Steps and Backup Camera for Ocala Client

A client from here in Ocala, FL, stopped by Ocala Car Audio with his 2017 Jeep Wrangler to inquire about adding a backup camera and upgrading the side steps on the truck. We showed him several options for steps, including tubular, extruded and motorized models. The client liked the idea of the motorized steps. We also showed him a camera option. He agreed to our quotation, so we scheduled an appointment to do the work.

We installed an Automotive Integration Solutions Jeep Wrangler backup camera kit. The camera mounts on the rear spare tire carrier and positions the camera between two of the spokes of the spare tire. This location provides a clear view behind the Jeep.

For steps, we installed an AMP Research PowerStep kit, which was designed specifically for the four-door JK chassis. The steps motorize down when a door is opened, then automatically retract 3 seconds after the last door is closed. This step kit is rated for 600 pounds and carries a five-year warranty.

The client loved the way the steps worked and was amazed that we were able to connect a camera to his factory radio.
